Owing to the proximal attachments of the iliopsoas, a pus-filled abscess (psoas abscess), as may occur in lumbar tuberculosis, may drain inferiorly into the upper medial thigh and present as a swelling in the region.[citation needed]
Treatment may involve drainage and antibiotics.[1]
