Fleischner sign

Overview

Fleishner's sign is a prominent central artery that can be caused either by pulmonary hypertension that develops or by distension of the vessel by a large pulmonary embolus. Fleishner's is a description given to appearances on plain chest x-ray along with Westermark's sign and Hampton's hump. These are all rarely seen, and usually in the context of a large pulmonary embolism.
