Overview
Mycobacterium abscessus infection can occur worldwide. Although mycobacterium abscessus infection has been reported throughout the United States, South Eastern states such as Florida and Texas have the highest incidence.[1] In July 2014, an outbreak of mycobacterium abscessus infection was reported in South Carolina.
