Asystasia gangetica, a species in the plant family Acanthaceae, occurs throughout the tropics.
In some parts of Africa, the leaves are eaten as a vegetable. [1] It is also used as an ornamental plant.
It is commonly known as Chinese violet, or by incorrect synonyms Asystasia bojeriana Ness, Asystasia coromandelina Ness and Justicia gangetica L..
