CT
Head CT scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of brainstem gliomas. The findings will vary with the tumor type.[1]
- Diffuse brainstem glioma
- Typically hypodense with little, if any, enhancement
- Focal brainstem gliomas
- Isointense on CT
- Tectal gliomas
- Typical CT finding is homogeneous expansion of tectal plate, isodense to grey matter with minimal enhancement on postcontrast images. It is also common to find a central tectal calcification
