History
A directed history should be obtained to ascertain the nature of the daytime sleepiness as a symptom. A detailed history about its onset and its duration has to be obtained. History about other associated symptoms of disrupted sleep such as fatigue and poor concentration should also be obtained. Partners of the patient may be able to report apneic periods in the individual during sleep.
Symptoms
- Insomnia
- Excessive daytime sleepiness
- Fatigue
- Morning headaches
Patients may also have symptoms due to the underlying causes (heart failure)
