Overview

The Medical Therapy works best for unruptured cerebral aneurysm

Medical Therapy

1.      Size

2.      Location

3.      Age

4.      Comorbidities

5.      Rupture or unruptured  aneurysm

The medical therapy is usually an option for unruptured cerebral aneurysm.

Strategies mainly focus on:

1.      Smoking cessation

2.      Blood pressure control

For smoking cessation individualized smoking cessation programs are present which help in this matter

In case, if a patient is suffering from high blood pressure, doctor prescribe anti-hypertensive to control blood pressure & also recommended dietary & life style modifications.

Now-a-days aspirin is consider an evidence based medication that can be used in the management of cerebral aneurysm.

Aspirin is a potent inhibitor of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX) which plays a critical role in the expression of immune modulators known to contribute to cerebral aneurysm formation and rupture.

Currently, there are no pharmacological therapies for patients with cerebral aneurysms.[1]

Note:

It is recommended, periodic radiographic imaging (either MRA, CT scan or conventional angiography) to monitor the size and/or growth of the aneurysm
