Overview
The goal of Primary prevention is to prevent the occurrence of an illness or a disease before it occurs. Malignancy can be prevented by controlling estrogen exposure with hormonal medications.
Primary Prevention
Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is due to structural or non-structural causes. As patients often present with bleeding as the primary symptom, there is little that can be done to prevent the underlying causes. It may be helpful to get gynaecological consult early on to detect abnormalities and treat them accordingly.[1]
- DUB due to malignancy may be prevented by controlling estrogen prevention earlier on. This can be achieved by the use of hormonal medications, such as oral contraceptive pills or hormonal IUDs
