Heart Zones is a fitness, health, and sports performance training methodology developed by professional Sally Edwards in 1992 with the publishing of her book The Heart Rate Monitor Book. The training system uses the heart as the core for the training program, zones as the range of training intensity, and training as a method of attaining goals through fitness effort. The training system is applied to running, swimming, cycling, or any cardiovascular activity. Dozens of books have been written on the topic.
