- Echocardiographic and ultrasound imaging may be useful in the differential diagnosis, excluding causes such as heart failure or cardiomyopathy both of which may cause chest pain that may be confounded with heartburn and biliary disorders which may cause symptoms that may confound with heartburn and GERD and other causes.
