Overview
Laboratory tests for liver function are usually normal among patients. An elevated concentration of alpha-fetoprotein is present in patients with hepatoblastoma.
Laboratory Findings
Laboratory tests for liver function are usually normal among patients. An elevated concentration of alpha-fetoprotein is present in patients with hepatoblastoma. Other non-specific findings include:[1][2]
- Anemia on complete blood count
- Thrombocytosis (more frequent because of the effect of thrombopoietin)[3]
- Thrombocytopenia (less common)
- Mild liver function disturbances
