Overview
The echocardiogram is of high diagnostic value in the assessment of hypoplastic left heart syndrome. Doppler echocardiography will also help in visualizing the flow in the ventricles.
Echocardiography
The echocardiogram is diagnostic and shows absence or hypoplasia of mitral and aortic valve, hypoplastic ascending aorta and a variably small size left atrium and ventricle.
Doppler Echocardiography
- Absence of antegrade flow in ascending aorta
- Size of atrial defect
