Other Diagnostic Studies
Lumbar Puncture
If neuro-imaging is normal, a lumbar puncture should be done for opening pressure and analysis. Intracranial hypertension in the absence of other cause defines the entity of idiopathic intracranial hypertension or pseudotumor cerebri.
Fluorescein Angiography
Fluorescein angiography may be helpful in the detection of early papilledema, showing dye leakage, disc vascularity, and excess early and late disc fluorescence. However, in equivocal situations, ophthalmologists find it incompletely reliable.
