Overview
Rheumatic fever is usually caused by an infection with Group A beta-hemolytic Streptococcus pyogenes.

- Group A beta-hemolytic Streptococcus pyogenes pharyngitis
- Mistreated or untreated scarlet fever
- Antibody type II hypersensitivity reaction
