History
The following history should be elicited while evaluating a case of right bundle branch block.
- History of palpitations, decreased general activity, fatigue, reduced exercise tolerance, dizziness and syncope
- Family history of ventricular arrhythmias, sudden cardiac death, heart blocks and myocardial infarction
- History of cardiac surgery
- Past history of myocardial infarction, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy and hypertension
- History of congenital heart disease in case of children
Symptoms
Patients with isolated RBBB without underlying heart diseases are usually asymptomatic. Such people do not require further diagnostic evaluation. In patients with underlying heart disease symptoms are usually due to the heart disease rather than RBBB itself. Such symptoms include:
- Palpitations
- Fatigue
- Presyncope
- Syncope
- Reduced exercise tolerance
