Overview
SMA syndrome occurs when the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) dilates and compresses the third (horizontal) part of the duodenum between it and the abdominal aorta.
Epidemiology and Demographics
It is a relatively rare disease and occurs mostly in middle-aged women.
