Overview
There is no significant role of other imaging modalities. However, a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan can be done to assess for osteoporosis, since patients with sickle cell disease can have low bone density.
Other imaging findings
A dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scan can evaluate for bone loss.[1]
