The United Homeless Organization is a charity based in New York City, formed in 1987, that advocates for the homeless and solicits money at tables located in various locations in Manhattan. More than three quarters of the workers are homeless, and all are currently or have been homeless at one time.[1] According to a 2001 article, at the donation tables, $15 per shift is set aside for the organization while the rest goes to the solicitor.[2]
