Urobilin is a yellow linear tetrapyrrole, resulting from the breakdown of haem, a cyclic tetrapyrrole. Urobilin is generated in intestines from urobilinogen. It is absorbed into blood stream and excreted in urine, giving urine its characteristic yellow color.
