I was born in Peru in 1987. I grew up in Lima the capital of Peru and attended an english speaking school. My dad was transfered to Doha, Qatar during 1995 - 1997. I was exposed to different cultures and social environments which helped me create my global sense of collaboration I currently advocate for. During high school i have been involved in several social campaigns and world impact project. I developed "Little green dot" a runneup for a NGO to help children who suffered from hunger in different institutions, we only had 2 events in Peru to feed children after christmas. I started medical school in 2006, 7 years that changed my life. I got deeply involved in several social campaigns around the country, one of the most "life twisting" event I faced was acting out during the 2007 South Peruvian earthquake where I quickly volunteered the same day against all odds and all parental advices. Among with the volunteers, although still being a 2nd year Med Student I was chose to be part of the brigade leaders. We vaccinated against tetanus more than 500 people in 2 days, provided essential emergency care to minor wounds and counsel affected individuals. Among 7 years of medical school I did several rotations in the US and since 2009 I was an active volunteer with the Yantalo Foundation - we performed several surgical campaigns once a year in the rural jungle of Peru - several recognized world wide physicians came to the area to perform free of charge surgeries to people in the area, some travelled to get there with no guaranties. I am an advocate and passionate for Global health - I am currently working as a research fellow at MGH but Im also involved in GIEESC by WHO and PGSSC by HSPH - both programs aim to the same goal: Quality surgical care globally. I look forward to expand and advocate for free and essential medical information which may impact those worldwide who lack access to this tools due to financial reasons. I faced 7 years of medical school without a free access to a journal i remember getting together with friends to buy journal subscriptions and share accounts to to financial limitations. I have joined wiki doc because i advocate for "CopyLeft" , I believe essential information like this which may be able to impact worldwide medical students and physicians is essential to save a life and should not be kept to only those available to pay for it.
