I am the son of a Tuskegee Airman and an Fine Arts Educator mother who grew up in a rambunctious family of five children who were urged to pursue the height of our personal desires for accomplishment, in spite of personal imperfections. I have tried to pursue this goal in my career to date.

I had eleven schools, in various locales, and was therefore afforded the opportunity to have my personal views consistently put to question and test. After attending Harvard College (Physical Sciences and Genetics), The Howard University College of Medicine and residency training at the District of Columbia Hospital (Internal Medicine), I practiced clinical Emergency Medicine and Trauma at several facilities (DC General, Washington Hospital Center and Jackson Memorial Hospital, among others)for about 20 years, merging that practice with teaching and administrative duties at various levels.

In that time, first as a department chief, then as a regional emergency executive I was afforded the opportunity to expand my expertise in administrative medicine, which lead to the chance to work at the institutional and system levels. In the 20 years that I have been a consultant, my concentration has been on Physician Relationship Engineering, which is a term which mashes up the idea that everything related to clinical operations can be redesigned and strengthened, but, sometimes only if the components are treated properly.

Mentat Systems Inc, the company that I co-founded with my wife, is directly involved in re-engineering this interface, while continuing to push for evolution of the relationships and the tools that should be made available to clinicians at work.
