• Biopsy may be helpful in the diagnosis of uveal melanoma.
• Most of the times we can diagnose uveal melanoma with physical examination and imaging.
• Other than confirming the diagnosis, biopsy is used for genetic sampling.
• Uveal melanoma biopsy is not generally recommended because of the risk of tumor spreading outside the eye.
