Overview
Positron emission tomography (PET) is another modality to assess the brain metabolism in different regions in different PDs.
Other Imaging Findings
PET scan in BPD reveals hypometabolism of glucose in prefrontal cortex and limbic system. [1] A study by Hazlett et al. demonstrated that in schizotypal no change sin metabolism in thalamus were found on PET scan in schizotypal PD, while schizophrenics had hypometabolism. [2] The PET scan in other PDs has not been studied enough to yield enough evidence to employ it as an investigation for diagnosis.
