Overview
Patients may be asymptomatic in early stages of disease. When symptoms occur, they include; shortness of breath, edema of the lower extremities, fatigue, loss of consciousness, and palpitations due to arrythmias.
History and Symptoms
In early stages of the disease, some patient might be asymptomatic. During the course of the disease it can present with the following symptoms;[1]
- Breathlessness which can be exertional or at rest
- Swelling of lower limbs
- Fatigue and fainting
- Irregular heart beat
- Arrhythmias
- Orthopnea
- Paroxysmal nocturnal dyspnea
- Dizziness
- Presyncope
- Syncope
- Sudden cardiac death
