Overview
Most cases of pseudomyxoma peritonei are diagnosed by imaging studies such as MRI, CT of abdomen or ultrasound but exploratory laparoscopy may also be used to detect the tumor especially in patients having appendicitis-like symptoms.
Other Diagnostic Studies
Exploratory laparoscopy can be used for the diagnosis of pesudomyxoma peritonei and to perform peritoneal staging, appendectomy, and ovarian biopsies but final pathology result determine the classification and stage of the disease.[1]
