Overview
Fatigue is a subjective feeling of tiredness with physical and mental causes. It can be a normal response to physical activity, emotional stress, boredom or lack of sleep. But fatigue can also be a sign of serious mental or physical condition if not relieved by enough sleep, good nutrition, or a low stress environment.
Causes
Life Threatening Causes
Life-threatening causes include conditions which may result in death or permanent disability within 24 hours if left untreated.
Common Causes
- Allergic rhinitis
- Antidepressants
- Antihypertensives
- Anxiety
- Chronic fatigue syndrome
- Depression
- Hypnotics
- Hypothyroidism
- Malnutrition
- Occult malignancy
- Severe anemia
