Overveiw
On ultraasound, cervical cancer is characterized by hypoechoic, heterogeneous mass involving the cervix.
Ultrasound
- Hypoechoic, heterogeneous mass involving the cervix[1]
- May show increased vascularity on colour Doppler
- Although cervical cancer is staged clinically, ultrasound can be a useful adjunct by showing
- Size (<4 cm or >4 cm)
- Parametrial invasion
- Tumour invasion into the vagina
- Tumor invasion into adjacent organs
- Hydronephrosis: implies stage IIIB tumour.
