History and symptoms
Symptoms of Paget's disease of the breast usually occur in one breast. Some patients have two or more symptoms at presentation, although often they are asymptomatic, and occasionally, a palpable mass is detectable.[1] Symptoms of Paget's disease of the breast include:[2]
- Itching, tingling, or redness in the nipple and/or areola
- Flaking, crusty, or thickened skin on or around the nipple
- Erosion or ulceration of the nipple
- A flattened or inverted nipple
- Discharge from the nipple that may be yellowish or bloody
