History
- Chronic eosinophilia affects patients in their 30s or 40s. [5-7]
- A history of atopy is found in 60 percent. [8]

Symptoms
- IAEP is characterized by acute onset of dyspnea (100% of patients)
- Fever that is usually moderate (100%
- cough (80%–100%)
- pleuritic thoracic pain (50%–70%)
- myalgias (30%–50%
- abdominal complaints (25%)46,50–52,54,64–72
- Acute onset is an important criterion for the diagnosis of IAEP, with a delay between the first symptoms and hospital admission of less than 1 month and usually less than 7 days.50,51
- Acute respiratory failure is frequent,53 often meeting criteria for acute respiratory distress syndrome,73 and admission to the intensive care unit and mechanical ventilation
