Overview
According to American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society (ATS/ERS) 2002 consensus, Acute interstitial pneumonitis is a variant of a group of Idiopathic interstitial lung diseases.
The classification is based on clinical, radiological and histopathologic findings.
Classification
- According to American Thoracic Society/European Respiratory Society (ATS/ERS) 2002 consensus, Acute interstitial pneumonitis is a variant of a group of Idiopathic interstitial lung diseases.[1]
- This classification divides Idiopathic interstitial pneumonias into 7 clinicopathological entities.
- Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)
- Nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP)
- Respiratory bronchiolitis-associated interstitial lung disease
- Respiratory bronchiolitis-associated lung disease/desquamative interstitial pneumonia
- Cryptogenic organizing pneumonia
- Acute interstitial pneumonia
- Lymphocytic interstitial pneumonia (LIP)
