Overview
On abdominal CT scan, pseudomyxoma peritonei is characterized by loculated ascitic fluids in peritoneal surfaces and scalloping of visceral surfaces, especially mesentery and liver.
CT
On abdominal CT scan, pseudomyxoma peritonei is characterized by:[1]
- Low attenuation, often loculated fluid throughout the peritoneum, omentum and mesentery
- Scalloping of visceral surfaces, particularly the liver
- Scattered (curvilinear or punctate) calcifications may be frequently present
- It tends to remain localised to the peritoneal cavity
