Overview
The essential laboratory tests for patients with rhabdomyosarcoma are evaluation of CBC, liver function tests, renal function tests, blood electrolytes, and coagulation studies.
Laboratory Findings
- The essential laboratory tests for patients with rhabdomyosarcoma are:[1][2]
- CBC:
- It may result into pancytopenia and anemia due to bone involvement.
- Liver function test ( LFT):
- LFT should be evaluated before chemotharapy and for assessment of liver metastasis.
- Renal function test:
- BUN and Creatinine levels should be evaluated before chemotherapy.
- Blood electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, chlorine, calcium, phosphorous, and magnesium:
- Hypercalcemia may occur.
- These tesets should be evaluated before chemotherapy.
- Coagulation studies:
- Disseminated intravascular coagulation may occur.
- CBC:
