Overview
An elevated levels of blood and urinary catecholamines, vanillylmandelic acid (VMA), and homovanillic acid (HVA) are suggestive of neuroblastoma.
Laboratory Findings
Blood Tests[1][2][3][4]
- ↓ hemoglobin level
- ↑ ferritin level
- ↑ catecholamine levels
- ↑ dopamine level
- ↑ vanillylmandelic acid (VMA) level
- ↑ homovanillic acid (HVA) level
- ↑ lactate dehydrogenase level (>1500 U/ml)
- ↑ neuron-specific enolase level (>100 ng/ml)
Urinalysis[1][2][5]
- ↑ catecholamine levels
- ↑ vanillylmandelic acid (VMA) level
- ↑ homovanillic acid (HVA) level
