Critical Pathways

Tachycardia Critical Pathways
Wide QRS-Complex Yes No

Definitions

  • Tachycardia is defined as a heart rate of greater than 100 beats/min.
  • Wide QRS if 3 or more QRS>0,12 s

Action Items

  • Maintain patent airway
  • Maintain i.v. access
  • Assist breathing as needed
  • Administer oxygen if hypoxemic
  • Monitor blood pressure, oximetry and attach ECG monitor/defibrillator
