Overview
Common symptoms in patients with sleep apnea include loud, chronic snoring, interruptions in breathing while sleeping, and day-time sleepiness. There are many non-specific symptoms that include morning headaches, mood changes, lack of concentration, and history of diseases such as CHF. Children have specific symptoms such as hyperactivity and behavior problems.

Common Symptoms
- Loud and chronic snoring with apneas in between
- Gasping, snorting, or interruptions in breathing while sleeping
- Excessive day-time sleepiness
- Sleep-deprived partners
Non-specific symptoms include
- Morning headaches
- Lack of concentration
- Irritability
- Memory impairment
- Mood changes, especially depression
- Personality changes
- Decreased libido and impotence
- Nocturia
- Shortness of breath
- Cough
- Awakening with a dry mouth or sore throat
- Esophageal reflux
- Night sweats
- Recurrent awakenings or insomnia
- Awakening with angina pectoris
- History of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, cerebrovascular disease, or renal disease
- History of type 2 diabetes mellitus
- Symptoms of fibromyalgia
