Overview
Treatment for rhabdomyosarcoma may consists of chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. Chemotherapy may be given as neoadjuvant chemotherapy or adjuvant chemotherapy. Radiation therapy may be used as local therapy.
Medical Therapy
All patients with rhabdomyosarcoma require multimodality therapy with systemic chemotherapy, in conjunction with either surgery, radiation therapy (RT), or both modalities to maximize local tumor control.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy may be given as neoadjuvant chemotherapy or adjuvant chemotherapy. The most common drugs used to treat rhabdomyosarcoma are:[1]
