-In hairy cell leukemia, the broken "hairy cells" build up in the bone marrow, which means that the bone marrow has difficulty producing enough normal cells:  [[white blood cells]] to fight infections, [[red blood cells]] to carry oxygen, and [[platelets]] to stop bleeding.
