Symptoms
- The specific clinical presentation of Kaposi's sarcoma is determined by the exact anatomical location of the tumor such as:
- Kaposi's sarcoma located on the skin may present with:
- Red or violaceous macules and patches
- Slowly develop over the legs, nose, and feet
- Increase in size of the lesion, which may coalesce to form nodules or plaques
- The color of the lesions may change into blue, purple, or brown as the disease progress
- Kaposi's sarcoma located in the mouth may present with:
- Lesions in mouth and throat: The disease may cause sore, ooze, bleed, or swallow and breath problems in mouth and throat.
- Lesions in gastrointestinal tract: The sarcoma may cause bleeding, anemia, abdominal pain and discomfort, even bowel obstruction.
- Lesions in lung: When Kaposi's sarcoma in lung, it can make coughing, bloody sputum, shortness of breath, and fever.
Other health problems may also cause these symptoms.
