Overview
Primary Prevention
- Smoking cessation is the only lifestyle modification shown to have an effect on the prevention of recurrence in Crohn's disease.
- There is no specific guidelines for colorectal cancer screening in patients with CD, it is widely accepted to perform surveillance colonoscopy every 1 to 2 years, starting at 8 years after establishing the diagnosis of pancolitis and 15 years in the case of left-sided colitis.
