Overview
There are no specific diagnostic criteria for hirsutism. Most women seek medical help for the inconvenience of the presence of hirsutism and clinical assessment is to determine the underlying cause.[1]
Diagnostic Criteria
There are no established criteria for the diagnosis of Hirsutism. Family history and physical examination are really important because there is no absolute clinical distinction between idiopathic and pathologic hirsutism. Most of the hirsutes have the idiopathic type and diagnosis is made by exclusion. It is also really important that when hirsutism is identified ,we should look for other sings of hyperandrogenism such as acne, male pattern alopecia , etc.[1]
