Overview
There are no MRI scan findings helps in diagnosing autoimmune hepatitis. However, a MRI scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of complications of autoimmune hepatitis which include fibrosis, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly.
MRI
There are no MRI findings helps in diagnosing autoimmune hepatitis. However, a MRI scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of complications of autoimmune hepatitis which include:[1][2]
- Cirrhosis
- Fibrosis and irregular nodular liver
- MRI differentiates regenerating or dysplastic nodules from hepatocellular carcinoma by accurately determining the nature of focal lesions.
- MRI is used as a follow-up study to determine whether lesions have changed in appearance and size.
- MRI may accurately diagnose cirrhosis and determines disease severity
- Heterogeneous hepatic echotexture which suggest active inflammation of the liver
- Hepatomegaly
- Splenomegaly
