Overview
Hippocrates described the term aphthae in relation to the disorders of mouth in 370-460 B.C. By 1928, V. P. Blair of St Louis was the first to advocate surgery as the best management for oral cancers. Cytotoxic chemotherapy was a major initiative in the 1970s for the patients unfit for surgeries.
