Overview
Head CT scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of subependymal giant cell astrocytoma. On head CT scan, subependymal giant cell astrocytoma is characterized by an intraventricular mass near the foramen of Monro, which is iso- or slightly hypoattenuating to the grey matter. Accompanying hydrocephalus may be present. There is marked enhancement on contrast administration.[1]

Head CT scan may be helpful in the diagnosis of subependymal giant cell astrocytoma. On head CT scan, subependymal giant cell astrocytoma is characterized by:[1][2]
- Intraventricular mass near the foramen of Monro
- Cyst and calcification
- Iso- or slightly hypoattenuating to grey matter
- Hemorrhage
- Accompanying hydrocephalus may be present
- Marked contrast enhancement

There is an intraventricular mass in the foramem of Monro area, on the left, with contrast enhancement and irregular calcifications. Multiple subependymal calcified nodules are also seem.[3]
