Overview
Other diagnostic studies for Kaposi's sarcoma include endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and biopsy.[1]
Other Diagnostic Studies
Endoscopy
- Findings on endoscopy suggestive of Kaposi's sarcoma include localized purpuric lesion located with the stomach and duodenum.<ref name="cancer"> Sarcoma- Kaposi Guide. Cancer.Net (2015) http://www.cancer.net/cancer-types/sarcoma-kaposi/risk-factors-and-prevention</ref>
Biopsy
- The definitive diagnosis of Kaposi's sarcoma is confirmed by a biopsy. Characteristic findings for Kaposi's sarcoma on microscopic histopathological analysis can be found here.[1]
T cell subset analysis
- This is especially useful for assessing CD4 T cell count, since this parameter is important for staging in the TIS staging system. It provides information about the immune competence of a patient. T cell subsets may need to be monitored during treatment. Disease can relapse even in the presence of normal CD4 T cell counts.

Bronchoscopy
- Findings on bronchoscopy suggestive of Kaposi's sarcoma include localized purpuric lesion located at the terminal airways.<ref name="cancer"> Sarcoma- Kaposi Guide. Cancer.Net (2015) http://www.cancer.net/cancer-types/sarcoma-kaposi/risk-factors-and-prevention
