Overview
Life threatening causes of pericarditis include acute myocardial infarction, Addisonian crisis, aortic dissection and rupture, blunt or penetrating chest trauma, esophageal perforation, gastric perforation, and myocardial rupture. Common causes of pericarditis include viruses, bacteria, neoplasms, and renal failure.
