Pharmacotherapy

The treatment generally depends upon the cause of the blind loop syndrome.

• Patients need to be resuscitated , whenever there is malnutrition.

• The initial pharmacotherapy is with antibiotics- especially Rifaximin , neomycin for 14 days.
• Vit B12 supplementation

• Sometimes, blind loop cannot be reversed completely, in these cases, treatment is focused on correcting nutritional deficiencies and eliminating bacterial overgrowth by treating with antibiotics.
