Overview
Risk factors of eczema include family history and FLG gene mutation. [1]
Risk Factors
- Family history and genetic mutation in the FLG gene are the two main risk factors of acquiring eczema. [1]
- FLG gene has an important function is the structural barrier of the skin, attributed to the profilaggrin protein. [2]
- Peanut allergy, herpes virus, and contact dermatitis were found to be associated with FLG gene mutation.[3] [4]
