Overview
Acute right lower quadrant abdominal pain arises from the distal gastrointestinal tract and is accompanied by other symptoms like diarrhea, hematochezia and tenesmus. With the most common cause being appendicitis, pain from above abdominal and below pelvic structures may also radiate towards this quadrant. In females, obstetric and gynecological causes must also be considered in addition to the usual causes.
