Overview
Junctional tachycardia can result from the following conditions: cardiovascular (e.g. Myocardial infarction, pericarditis); toxicities (e.g. Digitalis, lithium); infectious (e.g. Chagas disease, diphtheria, leptospirosis), and many other disease conditions.
Causes
Life Threatening Causes
Life-threatening causes include conditions which may result in death or permanent disability within 24 hours if left untreated.
Common Causes
- Beta blockers
- Cardiac surgery
- Digitalis toxicity
- Hypokalemia
- Hypothermia
- Hypoxia
- Myocardial infarction
- Pericarditis
