MRI may be helpful in the diagnosis of hypopharyngeal cancer. Findings on MRI suggestive of hypopharyneal cancer include intermediate to low signal mass and soft tissue enhancement.

Findings on MRI suggestive of hypopharyngeal cancer include:

MRI Component	Features
T1​	Intermediate to low signal mass
T1 C+ (GAD)	Enhancement usually present Larger tumors of nodal metastases may be centrally necrotic
T2	Intermediate to high signal
